Unfinished - Escape from Jurassic Park - left a one-minute sample

A piece of Jurassic Park animation proposal sample from 1993 was recently rediscovered and uploaded to the Internet. This project, called Escape from Jurassic Park, was prepared in the summer when the movie was a success, long before subsequent live-action sequels and animated works such as Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.

The project remained in development and no full episodes were produced. This sample clip comes from Universal Cartoon Studios and is used to show the creative direction.Jurassic Outpost, a fan website that follows the series, has compared it to previously discovered production materials and confirmed that the footage belongs to the project.

The animation continues to place the story on Isla Nublar and follows the story background of Jurassic Park.According to Jurassic Outpost, it was originally aimed at movie audiences and was not positioned as a cartoon specifically for younger children.

The co-ordinator is Will Meniot, who has participated in The Real Ghostbusters and Captain Planet and the Planeteers.Artist William Stott is responsible for developing the visual style, and the team has developed a 23-episode outline for the first season and produced a one-minute pitch video. The sample also used CGI elements created by MetroLight, which was a cutting-edge attempt at the time.

As for why the project failed to proceed, there are conflicting accounts.Stout recalled that Steven Spielberg had been exhausted by Jurassic Park and had no intention of moving forward; it is also said that the animation was approved without his participation, which made him dissatisfied and even refused to watch it.

When FirstShowing's Alex Billington introduced the footage on November 1, he specifically mentioned its distinctive 1990s animation style. He was happy that this video could be found and uploaded, and he also said that he would still like to see this version today.
