In New York in the 1960s, wealthy shipping tycoon Herbert Greenleaf found con man Tom Ripley, mistaking him for a friend of his spoiled son Dick Greenleaf.Herbert Greenleaf paid Tom Ripley to go to Italy to persuade Dick Greenleaf, who had been writing and painting abroad for many years, to return home.Tom travels to Atrani, where he meets Dick Greenleaf and his girlfriend Maggie Sherwood, who is writing a travel book about Atrani.And Tom Ripley became obsessed with handsome Dick and his carefree lifestyle.
