The play is set in the turbulent Shanghai business community in the early 20th century. It tells the magnificent journey of the national entrepreneur Li Muchuan (played by Zheng Kai) starting from an apprentice, establishing the national industry through hard work, and finally achieving spiritual sublimation in the construction of New China.
